NAME Copy-DbaRegServer



SYNOPSIS

Migrates SQL Server Central Management groups and server instances from one SQL Server to another.





SYNTAX

Copy-DbaRegServer [-Source] <DbaInstanceParameter> [[-SourceSqlCredential] <Pscredential>] [-Destination]

<Sqlcollaborative.Dbatools.Parameter.DbaInstanceParameter[]> [[-DestinationSqlCredential] <Pscredential>]

[[-Group] <System.String[]>] [-SwitchServerName <Switch>] [-Force <Switch>] [-EnableException <Switch>]

DESCRIPTION

Copy-DbaRegServer copies all groups, subgroups, and server instances from one SQL Server to another.





PARAMETERS

-Destination [<Sqlcollaborative.Dbatools.Parameter.DbaInstanceParameter[]>]

Destination SQL Server. You must have sysadmin access and the server must be SQL Server 2000 or higher.

-DestinationSqlCredential [<Pscredential>]

Login to the target instance using alternative credentials. Accepts PowerShell credentials (Get-Credential).



Windows Authentication, SQL Server Authentication, Active Directory - Password, and Active Directory -

Integrated are all supported.

-EnableException [<Switch>]

By default, when something goes wrong we try to catch it, interpret it and give you a friendly warning message.

This avoids overwhelming you with "sea of red" exceptions, but is inconvenient because it basically disables

advanced scripting.

Using this switch turns this "nice by default" feature off and enables you to catch exceptions with your own

try/catch.

-Force [<Switch>]

If this switch is enabled, group(s) will be dropped and recreated if they already exists on destination.

This is an auto-populated array that contains your Central Management Server top-level groups on Source. You

can specify one, many or none.



If Group is not specified, all groups in your Central Management Server will be copied.

-Source [<DbaInstanceParameter>]

Source SQL Server. You must have sysadmin access and server version must be SQL Server version 2000 or higher.

Configuration Server.

Top-level groups Group1 and Group3 along with their subgroups and server instances are copied from sqlserver to

sqlcluster. When adding sql instances to sqlcluster, if the server name of the migrating instance is "sqlcluster",

it will be switched to "sqlserver".



If SwitchServerName is not specified, "sqlcluster" will be skipped.
