NAME Invoke-DbaDbClone



SYNOPSIS

Clones a database schema and statistics





SYNTAX

Invoke-DbaDbClone [[-SqlInstance] <Sqlcollaborative.Dbatools.Parameter.DbaInstanceParameter[]>] [[-SqlCredential]

<Pscredential>] [[-Database] <System.String[]>] [[-InputObject] <Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Database[]>]

[[-CloneDatabase] <System.String[]>] [-ExcludeStatistics <Switch>] [-ExcludeQueryStore <Switch>]

[-UpdateStatistics <Switch>] [-EnableException <Switch>] [<CommonParameters>]





DESCRIPTION

Clones a database schema and statistics.



This can be useful for testing query performance without requiring all the space needed for the data in the

database.

The name(s) to clone to.

The database to clone - this list is auto-populated from the server.

-EnableException [<Switch>]

By default, when something goes wrong we try to catch it, interpret it and give you a friendly warning message.

This avoids overwhelming you with "sea of red" exceptions, but is inconvenient because it basically disables

advanced scripting.

Using this switch turns this "nice by default" feature off and enables you to catch exceptions with your own

try/catch.

Exclude the QueryStore data in the cloned database

Login to the target instance using alternative credentials. Accepts PowerShell credentials (Get-Credential).
