DESCRIPTION

The Write-VolumeCache cmdlet writes the file system cache to disk. By default, Windows caches file data to be written to disk in a special memory area

before writing the data to disk.



This cmdlet enables you to forcibly empty, or flush, the write cache by writing it to disk.





PARAMETERS

-CimSession [<CimSession[]>]

Runs the cmdlet in a remote session or on a remote computer. Enter a computer name or a session object, such as the output of a New-CimSession or

Get-CimSession cmdlet. The default is the current session on the local computer.

Specifies an array of letters that identify one or more drives or volumes in the system. The cmdlet writes the volume cache for the drives or

volumes you specify.

Specifies the maximum number of concurrent operations that can be established to run the cmdlet. If this parameter is omitted or a value of 0 is

computer. The throttle limit applies only to the current cmdlet, not to the session or to the computer.

You can use the pipeline operator to pass an array of MSFT_Volume objects to the InputObject parameter.

If you specify the PassThru parameter, this cmdlet returns an object representing the volumes for which you wrote the file system cache to disk.





Example 1: Write the volume cache

This command writes the volume cache for the C: drive.
