NAME Move-VDisk
SYNOPSIS
This cmdlet moves the specified VDisk objects to the specified datastore.
SYNTAX
Move-VDisk [-VDisk] <VDisk[]> [-Datastore] <Datastore> [-RunAsync] -ScsiLun <ScsiLun> [-Server <VIServer[]>]
[-Confirm] [-WhatIf] [<CommonParameters>]
Move-VDisk [-VDisk] <VDisk[]> [-Datastore] <Datastore> [-RunAsync] [-Server <VIServer[]>] [-StorageFormat
<VDiskStorageFormat>] [-Confirm] [-WhatIf] [<CommonParameters>]
DESCRIPTION
This cmdlet moves the specified VDisk objects to the specified datastore. For RDM (RawVDisk), only one VDisk
object can be moved at once, and only moving from VMFS to VMFS is supported.
PARAMETERS
-Datastore <Datastore>
Specifies the datastore to which you want to move the metadata of the VDisk object. For flat disk, the
contents of the disk are also moved to the specified datastore.
Required? true
Position? 2
Default value None
Accept pipeline input? False
Accept wildcard characters? true
-RunAsync [<SwitchParameter>]
Indicates that the command returns immediately without waiting for the task to complete. In this mode, the
output of the cmdlet is a Task object. For more information about the RunAsync parameter run "help
About_RunAsync" in the VMware PowerCLI console.
Required? false
Position? named
Default value False
Accept pipeline input? False
Accept wildcard characters? false
-ScsiLun <ScsiLun>
Specifies the new backing SCSI LUN for the RDM VDisk object that is moved.
Required? true
Position? named
Default value None
Accept pipeline input? False
Accept wildcard characters? false
-Server <VIServer[]>
Specifies the vCenter Server systems on which you want to run the cmdlet. If no value is given to this
parameter, the command runs on the default servers. For more information about default servers, see the
description of Connect-VIServer.
Required? false
Position? named
Default value None
Accept pipeline input? False
Accept wildcard characters? true
-StorageFormat <VDiskStorageFormat>
Specifies the new storage format of the flat VDisk object that is moved.
Required? false
Position? named
Default value None
Accept pipeline input? False
Accept wildcard characters? false
-VDisk <VDisk[]>
Specifies the VDisk objects you want to move.
Required? true
Position? 1
Default value None
Accept pipeline input? True (ByValue)
Accept wildcard characters? false
-Confirm [<SwitchParameter>]
If the value is $true, indicates that the cmdlet asks for confirmation before running. If the value is $false,
the cmdlet runs without asking for user confirmation.
Required? false
Position? named
Default value False
Accept pipeline input? False
Accept wildcard characters? false
-WhatIf [<SwitchParameter>]
Indicates that the cmdlet is run only to display the changes that would be made and actually no objects are
modified.
Required? false
Position? named
Default value False
Accept pipeline input? False
Accept wildcard characters? false
<CommonParameters>

NOTES
-------------------------- Example 1 --------------------------
Move-VDisk -VDisk $vDisk -Datastore $ds
Moves the flat VDisk object $vDisk to the $ds datastore.
-------------------------- Example 2 --------------------------
Move-VDisk -VDisk $vDisk -ScsiLun $scsiLun -Datastore $ds
Moves the raw VDisk object $vDisk on the $scsiLun SCSI LUN and stores metadata of this object on the $ds datastore.
